Minor Home Repairs in Ottawa
Something loose, squeaky, stuck, cracked, or simply not working right? I help homeowners across Ottawa with fast, neat, and honest handyman repairs — the small jobs that are too important to ignore.
What Counts as a “Minor Home Repair”?
Minor home repairs are the everyday fixes that keep your home comfortable and safe — door adjustments, cabinet hardware, wall patches, caulking touch-ups, small mounting jobs, and lots of “quick fixes” that pile up over time. If it’s part of your home and it’s not working properly, I can usually fix it in a tidy, professional way.
Sticky doors, loose handles, misaligned latches, squeaks, small adjustments.
Sagging doors, loose hinges, stripped screw holes, alignment and smooth closing.
Small drywall patches, nail pops, minor cracks, baseboards and casing repairs.
Tub/sink caulking refresh, small gaps, drafty spots, clean finishing.
Shelves, mirrors, hooks, towel bars, curtain rods, small wall-mounted items.
Small tweaks and replacements that don’t require licensed trade work.
Note: I do not perform work that requires a licensed tradesperson. If your job needs a licensed professional, I’ll tell you upfront.
Common Small Home Problems I Fix
Most clients contact me when small issues start to affect comfort, safety, or daily routine. Here are typical examples:
- Cabinet doors not closing properly, hinges loosening over time
- Door latches not catching, handles wobbling, or doors rubbing the frame
- Loose towel bars, hooks, shelves, or mirrors
- Minor drywall damage from moving furniture, anchors, or everyday wear
- Old caulking that looks messy or allows moisture to get in
- Small trim/baseboard issues that make the space look unfinished
These jobs are usually quick, but they make a big difference in how your home feels.
How Minor Repairs Usually Go
I keep the process simple and transparent:
- Quick scope check: you send a short list of issues (and photos if possible).
- Clear flat-rate quote: you know the price before I start.
- Tidy work: I bring the right tools, protect surfaces, and focus on clean finishing.
- Final check: alignment, function, and small details — so it works properly.
If parts are needed, you can supply them or I can pick them up and itemize them on the invoice.

Pricing
I use two simple pricing approaches, depending on the type of work.
For multiple small tasks in one visit, I charge an hourly rate. This works best when there are many minor details — adjustments, small fixes, tightening, mounting, or touch-ups — that are difficult to estimate individually. Hourly pricing keeps things flexible and fair when the scope may change on site.
For a single, clearly defined job, I provide a flat-rate quote. You know the total cost before we begin, with no surprises. This option works well for specific tasks such as cabinet hinge repair, door adjustment, fixture replacement, or other focused work.
My rates are based on the lower end of standard market pricing in Ottawa. Whether hourly or flat-rate, the goal is the same — honest pricing that reflects the real scope of the work and delivers good value.
I’ll assess the work, explain which pricing option applies, and give you a clear quote. If everything looks good — we go ahead. Simple and transparent.
