Floor tile replacement in Ottawa — FixItAll Handyman Services

Cracked, loose, or damaged tiles on your floor or backsplash can look bad and can create sharp edges or weak spots that get worse over time. I replace individual tiles (or a small group) cleanly and securely so the repair blends into the existing layout. The work includes careful removal without chipping surrounding tiles, proper surface prep, and accurate leveling so the new tile sits flush. I match grout spacing as closely as possible and finish with neat grout lines for a clean look. Once complete, the surface looks consistent again and feels solid underfoot. I serve Ottawa, Nepean, Barrhaven, Kanata, and Orléans.

I carefully remove damaged tiles without harming the surrounding area, clean old mortar/thinset, apply fresh adhesive, level the new tile, and finish with clean grout lines. When needed, I use protection and controlled removal to minimize dust and avoid edge damage. I also aim to match grout colour and joint width so the repair looks natural. Whether it’s one tile or several pieces, the goal is a neat, seamless replacement that restores the look and function of the surface.

What’s included: removal of the damaged tile(s), cleanup of adhesive residue, surface preparation, installation and leveling of the replacement tile(s), and grout finishing to match the surrounding joints as closely as possible.

When this service is a good fit: single cracked tiles, chipped corners, hollow/loose tiles, small backsplash damage, or a few tiles that need replacement after an impact or wear.

Process & expectations: I confirm the exact tile location and replacement plan on-site, protect nearby finishes, remove and prep the area, set the tile(s), and return/finish grouting where needed. Dry and cure times depend on the adhesive and grout, so I’ll point out any short-term restrictions (for example: when it’s safe to walk on the repair or expose it to water).

Not included / when another trade is needed: tile replacement does not correct structural movement, a failing subfloor/underlayment, widespread tile delamination, or waterproofing failure behind shower/bath walls. If there is active moisture, soft flooring, or an ongoing plumbing leak, that issue must be addressed first (a licensed plumber may be required where applicable) before tile work can hold long-term.
