Shower faucet and cartridge replacement service in Ottawa — FixItAll Handyman Services

Shower faucet dripping, a handle that won’t turn fully, or water temperature changing on its own usually points to a worn or stuck cartridge. I troubleshoot the shower valve, remove the trim carefully, and replace the cartridge with a compatible part to restore proper control. The goal is simple: stop the drip, bring back smooth handle movement, and stabilize temperature and pressure. I work cleanly and test the shower before I leave to confirm the leak is gone and the control is consistent. The scope is focused on cartridge/trim-side repairs where parts are accessible and available. I serve Ottawa, Nepean, Barrhaven, Kanata, and Orléans.

What’s included: diagnosis of the symptom (drip, temperature fluctuation, low pressure at the valve, stiff handle), safe disassembly of the trim, removal of the old cartridge (when removable), installation of a compatible cartridge, reassembly, and final testing for leaks and stable operation.

When this service is a good fit: persistent dripping after the shower is off, sudden hot/cold swings, a handle that binds or won’t rotate through the full range, or reduced control at the shower valve even though the rest of the home’s water supply seems normal.

Process & expectations: I shut off water where required, protect the surrounding finish, remove the handle/trim carefully, and attempt cartridge removal without damaging the valve body. After installing the new cartridge, I reassemble the trim and run a full test (hot/cold balance, pressure feel, and leak check at the handle/trim and spout/shower head). If a cartridge is seized or the valve body is damaged, I’ll explain the limitation before any further work.

Not included / when a licensed plumber is needed: this service does not include opening walls, replacing the in-wall valve body, re-piping, main drain work, or correcting building-wide pressure issues. If the shutoff valves don’t work, the valve body is cracked/corroded, the cartridge is fused in place, or the repair requires changing the in-wall plumbing, a licensed plumber may be required for the next step.
